Dreamland in Margate, UK, chooses Syx ticketing software

Syx Automations Ltd were chosen in 2015 to provide the ticketing and membership software for Dreamland Margate– Britain’s oldest amusement park.

This major Kent attraction reopened to visitors on 19 June after an extensive £18m refurbishment, during which a number of its original rides were restored to their former glory, including the iconic and Grade II-listed scenic railway.

Pre-sales started at the end of March and a queue of eager visitors waited in line for the opportunity to own their very part of the park's heritage in the form of a limited edition memento ticket, fashioned from a block of wood from the original railway planks.

The Syx Automations Project Team were on hand to support the opening, after installing 35 POS stations and turnstiles for access control.

The whole operation from admission, memberships, food and beverage and retail outlets is run from the ReCreateX software suite.

In the summer, a travelling circus utilised their event space, and a further three POS stations were installed for this. This allowed package tickets to be sold, with discounts for more than 1 event purchased.

Three levels of memberships have recently been introduced, with benefits including discounts to retail and food; unlimited access to the park, and early bird access to special events.

These memberships are to be sold on the Syx Webshop online solution, as well as ReCreateX.

Chris Wells, leader of Thanet District Council said: “Dreamland is iconic and means so much to not only Margate and Thanet but Kent and beyond.”
